Low-Cost Interference Emulator

Finally, a low-cost traffic emulator has been created. This project should show, that no expensive RF equipment like a vector signal generator is necessary to emulate interference.

This device acts as a noise source with a digitally stepped output power level. The onboard logic contains an Arduino microcontroller, which makes it possible to modulate the envelope with attenuatros and subsequently emulate interference in the Linux based WLAN test system.

  • Max. output power -4dBm @20MHz bandwidth in WLAN channel 1
  • Overall gain of ~100dB
  • Dynamic range 63.5dB
  • High switching speed, settling time < 400ns
  • Glith free transitions between attenuation states
